About the position:

Role and Responsibilities

The Student Support Specialist will be part of the Learning Strategies Program and will work closely with the guidance of the Learning Strategies Coordinator, the Learning Strategies staff and the classroom teachers.

This staff member will help ensure that students are using time effectively at school, breaking down assignments into small steps, identifying aspects that are too challenging and creating study plans for individuals.

This role will require supporting students with high anxiety and behavioural needs.

Employ appropriate strategies and methods relevant to individual student needs

Ensure that school work is suitably adapted by the classroom teachers

Explain and review assignments with students in a one-on-one or small group environment

Support students with organization and planning strategies to complete school work

Track student progress

Familiarity with computer platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Drive, Gmail, etc.

Requirements for the position:

Completion of a University or College program

Student Support or Teacher training would be an asset (including teacher certification)
