Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Quality Manager coordinates the facility's activities required to meet or exceed quality standards such as CAP or ISO 15189 to maintain laboratory accreditation.
Quality assurance (QA) aims to ensure that service provided by CPL is fit for purpose and meets both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance and patient safety.
Experience:
- Several years working in a public health laboratory required.
- Experience working with MS Word, Excel required.
- Experience working with document control software desired.
- Experience leading/participating in Lean 6 Sigma Kaizen events and Root Cause
- Analysis investigations desired.
- Laboratory Information System experience desired.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):
- Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program required.
- Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a discipline specialty, as deemed by the Employer may also be considered.
- BSc and/or certificate in Lab Quality Management desired.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
- Current licensure or eligible for licensure with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.
- Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS) considered an asset.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Knowledge of laboratory technique and theory essential.
- Knowledge and understanding of privacy legislation such as The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) essential.
- Knowledge of medical and technical terms essential.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in a laboratory essential.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions essential.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment essential.
- Computer literacy essential.
- Ability to make simple mathematical calculations essential.
- Excellent written communication skills essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills essential.
- Excellent organizational skills essential.
- Strong verbal and presentation skills essential.
Physical Requirements:
- Working shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.
