LeverageTek is actively seeking a Power BI Developer for a 12-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.
Work Location
The successful candidate will be required to work 3x/days on-site at the customer headquarters in Ottawa, ON.
Key Tasks
Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and reporting solutions.
Architect and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Lake.
Develop and deliver technology proof-of-concepts (POCs), architectural recommendations, and technical design documentation.
Establish and enforce Microsoft Fabric governance standards, including workspace architecture (Dev/Test/Prod), RBAC, RLS, lineage tracking, and performance optimization.
Write and execute comprehensive test cases and test scripts; document results, defects, and validation evidence.
Produce end-user documentation, operational guides, and structured status reporting (risks, issues, progress updates).
Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders in an Agile environment using Azure DevOps to deliver enterprise analytics solutions.
Key Qualifications
5+ years of experience designing and implementing advanced Microsoft Power BI solutions, including complex DAX data modeling.
5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure data platforms (Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake) and building batch/stream processing pipelines.
Proven experience implementing Microsoft Fabric governance, including security controls (RBAC, RLS), environment lifecycle management, and performance optimization in enterprise environments.
QualificationsFull SDLC experience including analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of data solutions.
Advanced SQL expertise with complex query development, tuning, and optimization.
Experience delivering large-scale data analytics initiatives in complex or regulated organizations
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and executive stakeholders.
Experience working in Agile environments with sprint-based delivery using Azure DevOps.
Experience with spatial or geospatial data (asset).
Compensation
Hourly Rate Negotiable
