Bladder Cancer Canada (BCC) is the first and only national patient advocacy organization dedicated to the over 80,000 Canadians living with bladder cancer


Our mission is three-fold:

to provide support to patients and their loved ones, increase awareness, and fund research that promotes the diagnosis, treatment and elimination of bladder cancer.


Role


Reporting to the National Volunteer & Program Manager, the Bilingual Program Support Coordinator will manage the national BCC helpdesk, coordinate the national Peer Support Program, and manage patient programming, outreach and volunteerism within Quebec and the national Francophone community.


Responsibilities

Patient Support

  • Develop and manage all Francophone support and educational programming, being responsive to client and volunteer needs.
  • Oversee, manage and expand the national Peer Support Program.
  • Match clients with appropriate volunteers, and recruit and onboard French and English volunteers as needed.
  • Develop and implement a training program for all new support volunteers, and ongoing training for current support volunteers.
  • Develop the patient education plan in collaboration with BCC staff and volunteers, including all webinars and meetings, with a focus on francophone programming.
  • Help develop, coordinate and support BCC's patient support groups in Quebec and across Canada.

Volunteers

  • Establish regular volunteer communications with French and English volunteers in the province of Quebec, and Francophone volunteers across Canada.
  • Conduct recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers to support additional programs, outreach in Quebec, and other initiatives, with a focus on the Peer Support Program.
  • Maintain an accurate and uptodate database of volunteers in DonorPerfect Online.
  • Ensure necessary volunteer resources are made available in both official languages.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities and successes as well as create a strong engagement and recognition plan, in collaboration with the National Volunteer & Program Manager.
  • Support the development of both the French quarterly volunteer enewsletter and the monthly enewsletter to BCC's subscriber list, in collaboration with the National Volunteer & Program Manager.
  • Help recruit and train French and English volunteers to support the Walk, establish at least one new Walk in the province of Quebec in 2024, and support the National Development Manager as needed.

Partnerships, Funding & Awareness

  • Increase BCC's visibility and brand, and connect with patients and the medical community in the province of Quebec to increase funding opportunities.
  • Engage and meet with relevant stakeholders including healthcare clinicians, cancer agencies, corporations and donors, and represent BCC at conferences and meetings in Quebec.
  • Maintain uptodate stakeholder records in DonorPerfect Online.
  • Provide additional support to the Executive Director and National Volunteer & Program Manager as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is mandatory, with superior and professional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience in social work, psychology, volunteer management, and/or program management experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
  • Strong ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines, superior time management and organization skills, a strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, take initiative and problem solve.
  • Experience in the healthcare and/or nonprofit sector, and knowledge of bladder cancer are assets.
  • Ability to triage and handle difficult conversations, while exhibiting tact and empathy in all communications.
  • Evening and weekend work is occasionally required to facilitate events and meetings.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Note:
A police background check must be completed as a condition of employment.


Location:
This position will be based out of your home office in Montreal or the Greater Montreal Area.


Compensation and hours:
Permanent, full-time position of 37.5 hours/week.

Salary range of $54,000 to $58,000 per annum with benefits package including dental, extended healthcare, life insurance and EAP available after probationary period, and 3 weeks of vacation per calendar year, pro-rated to start date.

Work is expected to be completed during standard business hours; however, occasional evenings and weekends may be required for BCC events.
