Reporting to the Manager, of Safety and Emergency Preparedness Programs, the

Occupational Health and Safety Analyst will support the Health and Safety team to ensure programs and policies are developed, implemented, and maintained as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Duties:
Accountability # 1:
Administration of the Respiratory Protection Program


  • Responsible for the coordination and oversight of the Respiratory Fit Testing Program
  • Tracks quarterly respiratory protection compliance requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with Portacount preventative maintenance / QC requirements.
  • Updates Respiratory Protection Program and Policy as required to comply with OHSA and CSA standard

Accountability #2:


Contractor Safety Program

  • Oversees and facilitates the Royal's Contractor Safety Program.
  • Assist with vetting new contractors to ensure compliance with OHSA requirements and acceptable safety performance.
  • Develops, participates, and conducts staff and contractor safety training and coaching.
  • Takes inventory of all safety equipment and ensures they meet manufacturers' and OHSA requirement.

Accountability #3:


Safety Trends and Statistical Analysis

  • Inputs incidents through the Royal Client Staff Incident Feedback system and follows up on action items including debriefing notes.
  • Generates statistical reports on safety incidents and trends for internal and external use.

Accountability #4:
Departmental Workplace Violence Risk Assessment


  • Conducts departmental workplace violence risk assessment
  • Creates statistical reports for the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, Quality Committee of the Board, JHSC, and any others assigned by the manager of the program

Accountability #5:


JHSC Resource/support

  • Provides administrative support for the four JHSCs including developing meeting packages and taking minutes as required.
  • Acts as a Safety resource for the JHSCs, Accessibility, and, WVP committees
  • Tracks the JHSC monthly workplace inspections and maintains the Hazard Tracking Sheet.

Accountability #6:
Miscellaneous


  • Assisting Safety Officer with investigations, risk assessments, safety audits, and program development.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination Free Workplace policy.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:


  • Certificate or diploma in occupational health and safety
  • Travel in compliance with The Royals' Safe Driving Policy may be required.
  • University degree in a related fields an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years progressive experience in a Health and Safety department, preferably within the healthcare sector.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Capable of multitasking and working to demanding deadlines.
  • Able to make decisions and be a selfstarter.
  • Capable of working independently, and taking initiative to meet job requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety protocols and processes.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office.
  • English level A is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French /English) is considered an asset.
