Position Summary
Responsible for the monitoring of aquatics staff, program participants and program delivery
Provide staff direction and leadership and respond to emergency situations
Ensure accurate and timely completion and submission of all forms and records (daily attendance, equipment inventory, programming, bather logs, behaviour logs, accident/incident reports, facility maintenance and safety checks, etc.)
Responsible for monitoring pool opening and closing procedures
Assist with staff scheduling
Attend and participate in all training sessions
Facilitate in-service training sessions
Perform all duties and responsibilities listed in the Head Lifeguard/Instructor and Instructor/Guard job description
Ensure all aquatics staff are performing the duties outlined in their job descriptions
Promote public water safety education and advertise programs and activities scheduled at the City of Kingston
Provide ongoing feedback and ways to improve teaching techniques; as well as complete detailed mid-term and final evaluations on the Lifeguards/Instructors performance
Address all safety issues including complaints involving the public and report to supervisor
Enforce, all City of Kingston policies and other relevant legislations, including but not limited to Ministry of Health regulations, Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) standards, health and safety, etc.
Must be available to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and the following holidays: Canada Day, Civic Holiday and Labour Day

Qualifications, Competencies
MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME SECONDARY OR POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF Verification will be required.
Two (2) years of experience as an Aquatic Supervisor or Head Lifeguard/Instructor.National Lifeguard - Pool certification required.
Lifesaving Society Instructor or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.
High Five (PHCD) - Principals of Healthy Child Development certification.
Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification is required.
Bronze Examiner, First Aid Instructor/Examiner, National Lifeguard Service (NL) Instructor/Examiner, Water Safety Instructor Trainer or Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer considered an asset.
