Highlights:


TN is a slightly built older gentleman, who will be living in South Vancouver with his shared living caregiver and family.

TN enjoys spending time in the community as well as at home.

He has a good sense of humour and likes those who possess a positive and motivating attitude, while able to maintain clear boundaries.

Best suited is someone with a patient and compassionate approach and clear communication; mindful of your actions and insightful of others.


Duties and responsibilities:

Home support duties (including, but not limited to personal care, bathing, bathroom support, meal preparation and eating). Use of lifts and transfers as needed.
Providing companionship and accompanying the Individual in community outings and leisure activities within the home.
Maintaining records of daily activities, health and goals.
Accompanying the Individual to appointments.
Ensure the Individual's rights and choices are respected and advocate as needed.
Excellent understanding of behaviour management principles and strategies including mental health needs.
Performing range of motion exercises as set up and outlined by the occupational therapist
Encourage and motivate individual through trust building, sharing and companionship.
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with team members.


Rate of Pay:
$20.09/hour to $22.75/hour


Probation 3 Months


Preferred Training or Experience:


  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviour; awareness of/experience supporting people living with mental illness.
  • Excellent observational skills and ability to not miss verbal cues.
  • Very clear oral communication and excellent active listening skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and community connecting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage others.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently follow protocols and behavioural support guidelines.
  • Experience with lifts/transfers and physically able to push a manual wheelchair.
  • Prior experience provide personal hygiene support/care.

Specific Training or Experience Required

Expected Hours of Work
14 hrs per week.
Sunday, Monday, Shift hours of 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.


Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 14 per week


Salary:
$23.50-$25.75 per hour
