Job description

Position Type: Full-Time, Seasonal (June 22 – August 28)

Reports To: Camp Owner/Director

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and mentorship-minded individual to lead our Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program. As the LIT Coordinator, you are more than just a supervisor; you are a coach, a mentor, and a bridge between our teenage trainees and our professional camp staff. You will oversee the growth of aspiring leaders, ensuring they develop the "Career Readiness Toolkit" promised to their families.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership & Mentorship (50% of Role)

  2. The Morning Launch: Lead the 8:00 AM daily huddle to set goals and build morale.

  3. In-Field Coaching: Spend significant time "in the field" observing LITs in their assigned groups. Provide real-time, constructive feedback on their body language, communication, and camper engagement.

  4. Skills Seminars: Facilitate daily workshops (Resume writing, Social Psychology, Workplace Ethics) using the provided camp curriculum.

  5. Evaluation: Manage the LIT Handbook process, including daily journal check-ins and mid-week/final performance evaluations.

  6. Program Administration (30% of Role)

  7. Owner Support: Assist the Camp Owner with daily administrative tasks, including attendance tracking, parent communications, and logistical planning.

  8. Documentation: Ensure all community service hours are logged and graduation letters are prepared accurately for the final ceremony.

  9. Safety Compliance: Monitor LITs to ensure they are adhering to the "Rule of Three" and all facility safety protocols.

  10. Liaison & Conflict Resolution (20% of Role)

  11. Act as the primary point of contact for Head Counsellors regarding LIT performance.

  12. Mediate any minor conflicts between LITs or between LITs and campers.

  13. Report significant behavioral or safety concerns directly to the Camp Owner.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a University/College program (Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Human Resources preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a camp, school, or youth leadership setting.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional "Emotional Intelligence." You must be able to give feedback in a way that encourages growth rather than discourages it.

  • Logistics: Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-energy environment.

  • Certifications: Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C (or willing to obtain).

Why Join Us?

This is a high-level management role. Unlike a standard counsellor position, you will be responsible for staff development and curriculum delivery. You will leave the summer with significant "Management" and "HR" experience for your own professional portfolio.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: $24.00-$31.73 per hour

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Discounted or free food
