Responsibilities:
Continue to develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with all provincial, federal and state and regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with management to develop and implement corrective actions.
Monitor driver performance and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Keep abreast of changes in provincial, federal, and state transport regulations related to safety compliance.
Maintain a working knowledge of current OH&S legislation, Federal and Provincial laws as well as company standards and policies.
Develop, update and review:
Health & Safety manual, policies, procedures, safe job procedures, safe work practices, etc.
WCB Claims management
Communicate with all levels of staff and management to promote a culture of safety throughout the company.
Lead safety meetings and joint health & safety committee meetings
Encourage and promote safe work cultures with a mentoring and team approach
Perform internal COR audits and assisting external auditors
Monthly monitoring of the Company Safety Ratings.
Keep record of Vehicle maintenance reports
Participate in interviews, test drives and hire drivers
Conduct driver orientation
Driver retention
Driver safety assessments
Order Driver Abstracts as required
Assess, Implement and oversee training
Arrange Drug testing
Prepare and participate in audits/inspections
Prompt and professional response back to client, citizen or employee concerns.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Promote positive relationships working in a team environment.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with exposure to sensitive company information.
COR Audit Certified considered a strong asset
Proven organizational abilities.
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail and results oriented with the ability to multitask, and adhere to deadlines, even in high pressure situations.
Excellent attention to detail, high level of accuracy
Good communication skills
