    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The SPD Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the reprocessing; high level disinfection and storage of all flexible endoscopes. The successful candidate will follow the recommended practices of the CSGNA and the CSA.

    You will be responsible for monitoring biological tests required for Quality Control; maintaining the endoscope leasing program; monitoring and recording all information concerning the equipment; and terminal cleaning of endoscopy equipment at the end of your shift.

    Other duties as assigned.


    NOTE:
    Personal Protective Equipment must be worn while performing the duties of an SPD Endoscopy Technician.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Successful completion of a recognized Central Service Techniques Course or CSAO course;
    • Previous experience in a CS/SPD field including in-depth knowledge of cleaning, inspecting, testing and processing of flexible scopes
    • Demonstrated knowledge of infection control procedures;
    • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, be precise and proficient, retain what has been taught and be decisive;
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
    • Proven to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills;
    • Proven to have excellent organizational, time-management and prioritization abilities;
    • Proven ability to perform constant lifting, continuous pushing, unremitted pulling and steering of carts, walking/standing approximately 90% of the shift;
    • Proven current knowledge of Meditech and inventory systems, preferred;
    • Previous experience within a hospital setting preferred;
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, an asset;
    • Must have satisfactory performance record;

    • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;
    • Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

    Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
