    Restoring the Sacred – Youth Activities Worker

    Full Time (40 hours/week)

    Salary Range: $21.00 – 24.00/hour $43,680 – $49,920/annually
    About the Role
    Restoring the Sacred (RTS) is a culturally-based after-school program that focuses on providing peer support for youth that have moved to Winnipeg to complete their schooling. The RTS team provides a variety of opportunities for the youth, such as meeting new friends, career exploration, learning and participating in culturally-based activities, and navigating the many resources that Winnipeg has to offer RTS operates within a peer mentorship model to provide a positive, inclusive, and safe environment that builds a strong circle of support for the youth to ensure prevention of sexual and/or gang exploitation.

    What We Need :
    The selected candidate is responsible for curriculum facilitation such as instructing, planning, and organizing the program under the direction of the Coordinator. Learning modules include: Life Skills and Ways of Being, Circle of Courage Model and Reclaiming Our Sacredness Curriculum. The Facilitator is also responsible for monthly activity development, planning, and organizing of the mentoring component of the program. They will provide clear communication in areas of assistance such as goal setting and building life skills, and are able to motivate and inspire youth. The Facilitator will act as a resource and strive to help the participants achieve their educational goals and assist in their transition to Winnipeg and must be committed to cultural reclamation and traditional healing practices.

    What You Bring :

  • Experience working in the Indigenous community or equivalent combination of education and relevant experiences (post-secondary education an asset);
  • 1-2 years experience working with youth and facilitating activities with groups;
  • Knowledgeable on community resources and agencies;
  • Successfully developed and delivered content within a group setting;
  • Experience in recruitment, assessment and selection of participants
  • Proficient organizational and time management skills;
  • Dedicated team player who demonstrates flexibility and adaptability;
  • Detail-orientated record keeping; including report writing, case notes and data collection;
  • Clear communicator and presenter; both written and oral;
  • Understanding of culturally-based trauma-informed practices alongside a commitment to staff and participant privacy;
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate, Food Handler's is considered an asset;
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and Applied Suicide Intervention Skill Training considered an asset;
  • Must be prepared to work 40 hours a week with flexible hours including some weekends, and evenings (Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays program hours are 11:30am – 7:30 pm, while Tuesdays and Thursdays office hours are from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
