Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a Contract Full time, 40 hours per week, (1 year contract), Program Coordinator in Edmonton to join our dynamic and talented team.

This position has a weekly schedule of Monday - Friday (8:00AM to 4:30PM), some weekends and evenings may be required.


Program Overview:


Job Summary:


The Program Coordinator assists the Team Lead with the day to day operations of Welcome Home and ensures that the program is responding to community needs in an efficient and prompt manner.

This position requires strong communication skills with a high degree of diplomacy and people management skills.
The Program Coordinator supervises volunteers, supports participants and supports the dedicated Welcome Home Team to provide excellent service.


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate and provide a welcoming, hospitable, and safe environment for participants and volunteers in the program
  • Establish and maintain professional community relations with Homeward Trust, and other Housing First Agencies
  • Provide appropriate supports (strategies, advice) to participants, volunteers and students
  • Lead special projects such as developing a training plan, new programs, presentations etc.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of practical and meaningful educational options that benefit volunteers of Welcome Home
  • Attend and assist in the planning of any social events for the participants and volunteers
  • Attend training/staff development programs as required
  • Assist inthe day to day operations of the program
  • Demonstrate initiative in promoting the Welcome Home and other Agency programs and services to meet the needs community groups, and/or educational institutions
  • Develop and provide adequate information on volunteerism to people who inquire
  • Obtain adequate information to support and ensure appropriate matches occur between volunteers and participants in a learning and interactive environment
  • Design, develop, and improve support to the volunteers based on evaluation feedback
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain the prescreening, interviews and matching of new clients to volunteers and supervise the volunteerparticipant matches
  • Continuously review program procedures in order to accommodate changing client and volunteer needs and develop engaging volunteer opportunities
  • Cofacilitate ongoing new and ongoing training and support to program volunteer contacts and volunteers
  • Ensure all volunteer and participant paperwork is completed according to program guidelines
  • Work with the Welcome Home team to coordinate quality improvement initiatives and ensure that practices are in compliance with COA standards
  • Coordinate the daily activities of Welcome Home ensuring data entry is accurately completed on a monthly basis and information is filed accordingly
  • Distribute, collect and analyze program evaluations
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports on Volunteer statistics for Welcome Home
  • Compile and submit quarterly service review on volunteer initiatives
  • Prepare and maintain volunteer files
  • Monitor the completion and submission of consent forms, volunteer job descriptions, job reviews, and contact notes
  • Assist in promoting positive public relations within the community.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Qualifications:


  • Degree or diploma in Human Services or a related discipline
  • Two years working in the Human Service field
  • Supervisory experience working with volunteers, as well as knowledge of Housing First and issues related homelessness, addictions and mental health preferred

  • Possess a good knowledge of community resources
  • Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy
  • Proven case documentation and effective information reporting practices
  • A reliable Vehicle, Valid Driver's License, Vehicle Registration and Third Party Liability Insurance (amount of two million)
  • Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) mont
