    Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Prepare work plans, schedules, and budgets along with performing analysis of complex structures
  • Prepare design calculations and drawings in accordance with applicable design codes, and prepare engineering reports and other technical documents
  • Prepare standard construction documents, such as technical specifications and tender documents
  • Conduct site inspections from time to time and perform other functions as required
  • Plan, evaluate, and adapt work using independent judgment and innovative problem-solving approaches, seeking technical guidance and supervisory approval for complex or unusual problems and project plans

    On top of that, you will:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or higher (Master's degree preferred), with a minimum of 4 years of related experience in Bridge Design, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Be a registered Professional Engineer in home province or state, or ability to obtain registrations in Nova Scotia within 12 months of employment
  • Possess a Class 5 driver's license
  • Be familiar with the use of structural design codes such as CSA-S6, CSCE, and AASHTO along with having sufficient exposure to structural analysis software programs (ex: CSiBridge, MIDAS, SOFiSTiK)
  • Be conversant in the use of engineering software, such as Mathcad, to efficiently produce engineering calculations
  • Be knowledgeable in parametric conceptual designs, the use of programming environments like Dynamo and Grasshopper (preferred)
  • Hold experience and knowledge of suspension bridges through site, inspection, analysis, or design experience (preferred)
  • Ideally have the experience and ability to prepare proposals and participate in business development
