Position Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Water, Wastewater and Roads, the Water Quality Analyst provides technical skills and data collection related to the City's water systems including updating the City's infrastructure.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the preparation and/or analysis of technical and maintenance studies for the City's water distribution system
  • Review and ensure compliance with MECP standards and regulations for the City's water distribution system
  • Maintain water distribution records and act as the division's contact for water quality issues
  • Coordinate and supervise activities related to water quality maintenance programs (water distribution sampling, dead end flushing, and new subdivision flushing program)
  • Coordinate special projects for construction/maintenance/inspection
  • Coordinate and provide first line supervision for municipal water contracts
  • Prepare reports and tender documents and provide contract management
  • Provide technical assistance including cost estimates in preparation of annual budgets and maintenance projects
  • Liaise with the public, property owners, builders, contractors, other departments, utilities, consultants, government agencies and other municipalities regarding matters pertaining to various City policies and procedures, municipal services and programs
  • Investigate innovative methods, procedures and products in the field of public works

Education and Experience:


  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • CET designation is an asset
  • MECP Certificate of Competency in Water Distribution Subsystem Class 2 is an asset
  • Water Quality Analyst Certificate is an asset
  • 5 years prior experience in municipal water distribution systems maintenance and operations

Required Skills/Knowledge:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and other related legislation and regulations

  • Exposure to outdoor conditions when onsite
