ABOUT THE AGENCY

Youth Diversion is a charitable organization which has offered service to youth in the Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington area since 1974.

The goals of the organization are to help youth overcome challenges by providing individualized services to divert youth from risk; offering both intervention and prevention services; and, working collaboratively and in partnership with youth, their families and our community.

The SNAP Classroom Behaviourist works in direct collaboration with the Classroom Coordinator within our School Based programming team.

Our School and Non-Academic Program (SNAP) has been developed jointly with the Safe Schools partners committee, which includes representatives from police, education and child welfare.

The SNAP program provides an alternative venue for students between 12-18 to attend a school program while suspended or expelled under Board Policy and/or the Safe Schools Protocol.

Referrals to the program are received directly from school principals following their decision to pursue this disciplinary action against a youth within their school.

Our SNAP program serves the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington regions schools both in the public and Catholic school boards.
