Purpose:

The Manager, Business Operations provides business and operational support to the global Equity Research department.

This position is suitable for an individual who has strong business administration, budgeting and recruitment skills and enjoys working in a stimulating and fast-paced work environment.

This position is based in our Toronto office.


Is this role right for you?

  • Support the Equity Research department with operational and administrative duties and requests
  • Prepare and submit expenses, including the assignment of accurate GLs and expense codes
  • Reconcile and submit monthly Visa statements
  • Assist with analysis and preparation of reports such as forecasts, accruals, journal entries, variance analysis, and additional ad hoc requests, utilizing various data inputs to generate reports and analysis within defined timelines
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual department budget
  • Create and update databases and Excel spreadsheets
  • Assist with the coordination of frequent and detailed travel arrangements
  • Assist in the recruitment process including scheduling interviews, setting up panel meetings & coordinating tests
  • Maintain checklists for incoming and outgoing employees and proactively follow up on outstanding items
  • Track department equipment inventory and update inventory file
  • Coordinate I.T. setup for incoming and outgoing staff
  • Coordinate with the I.T. Support team to troubleshoot I.T. issues for the department
  • Manage the approval process for market data services and subscriptions, tracking price increases and spending per user
  • Liaise with the facilities coordinator to solve any facilities queries or issues for the department
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • A minimum of 3+ years in an operations or administrative role
  • Completion of a university degree or college diploma
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience preparing budgets
  • Must have a good comfort level with technology, including familiarity with videoconferencing software and setup
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with staff at senior levels
  • Experience working in a teamoriented environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and work in a fastpaced environment
  • Excellent written oral and written communication skills. Fluency in Spanish would be an asset (written/oral)
