JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:
Community Life Coordinator


Reports To:
Director of Resident Services and Community Life Manager


Purpose:

This position is responsible for planning and providing a wide range of programs for the independent residents of this community.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute varied activities, including the gathering and preparation of materials and supplies. This includes planning socials and parties that require decorating and serving food. This also includes conducting fitness programs for residents every shift.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately in both verbal and written formats with the Community Life Manager and other applicable staff with regard to shared programs or specific concerns relating to the care of residents or the residence.
  • Confident using Publisher, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word (e.g. creating posters and contributing to The Weekly/Tower Talk).
  • Must have a pleasant, cheerful, energetic but calm manner and a positive attitude toward residents and staff.
  • Must be a caring person who seeks to maintain the dignity and integrity of individuals and demonstrates a mature perspective on, and appreciation for, lifestyles of the current resident population.
  • Evenings and weekdays will occasionally need to be covered.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in the social sciences; recreation or equivalent in Gerontology or activation is a plus.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and Publisher.
  • Comply with the safety regulations and policies of the home and the activity department.
  • Capable of quick problem solving and with minimum supervision.

Dress Code:

Business casual. Appearance must be neat, tidy, and well groomed.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 9-5 (occasional Saturdays and evenings):

  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Holidays (Canada Day only)

Internal Contacts:

Regular and frequent contact with residents, senior staff, administration staff and support services staff.


External Contacts:

Will have contact with the general public and entertainers.


Job Types:

Salary:
From $23.65 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends only
