Global Banking and Markets


Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients.

Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange, and precious & metals.

Purpose

Accountabilities

  • Facilitate the accurate settlement and processing responsibilities of the unit by:
  • ensuring all transactions are accurately reflected in the appropriate settlement systems
- taking appropriate action to ensure all transactions are confirmed as instructed and settled on a timely basis
- reporting/escalating in a timely manner any settlement problems to the appropriate sales/trade floor personnel &/or department management
- arranging funding for the various depositories
- ensuring settlement activity is accurately reflected in the appropriate bookkeeping systems

  • Perform administrative functions as required including:
  • assisting in the resolution of any reconciliation concerns and by taking appropriate action to prevent any re-occurrence
- referring any non-routine/exceptional transactions to the immediate attention of management

  • Participate &/or assist in training / crosstraining as required by management
  • Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of all related settlement systems and all related operational protocol.
  • Provide customer service consistent with Scotia Service Standards and Complaint Resolution Procedures.

Requirements:


  • Must possess sound knowledge of the following operating/settlement systems used within the unit: BTS (061/191), Impact, Arrow, Arrow Blotter, Clearance Pro, Escape, CDS, DTC and the FED.
  • Ability to work successfully in a highly stressful environment.
  • Good communication skills;
  • Solid planning skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize;
  • Must exhibit sound judgment and decision making ability;

The incumbent works in a secure office environment.
