Your Opportunity:

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Consultant/Instructor is a member of the Program and Planning Supports Leadership team. This position works collaboratively across programs under the direction of the Manager for sexual and reproductive health.

This position works to support and enhance care and health service environments with the goal of improved health outcomes for teenagers and adults seeking sexual and reproductive health services.

Using a trauma informed lens, the consultant/instructor assesses, plans, implements and evaluates sexual and reproductive health programing across programs in the Edmonton Zone.

Key responsibilities include supporting front line clinical practice by providing best practice guidance.

In collaboration with medical directors and clinical development nurses, this position will lead the development and implementation of clinical practice standards in Edmonton Zone while liaising provincially.

This position monitors health trends and fosters key internal and external partnerships with the goal of improving access, health equity and health outcomes for clients and the community as a whole.

The Consultant/Instructor monitors and responds to quality assurance practice issues under the direction of the Manager.

The Consultant/Instructor also works with internal partners and external partners/agencies to identify new opportunities to further improve program services, facilitates professional development, education, and coordinates orientation of new staff.

This position works closely with clinical leaders and managers across all CHS programs.


Description:


As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team.

You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development.

You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice.

You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant field. Recent experience working in sexual and reproductive health. Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Community Health Nursing an asset. Experience with Connect Care. Experience with virtual facilitation.
