The Opportunity


This role will focus on Canadian payroll but will be part of a broader North American payroll team supporting the preparation and administration of a centralized payroll function.


The Team


The role will report directly to the Payroll Manager as part of the HR team and partner with Operations, Finance, and HR to align and support an efficient and streamlined payroll process.


Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and biweekly payrolls for locations across Canada, including salary and hourly employees.
  • Review and balance time in Workforce Dimensions prior to generating the payroll integration file.
  • Manage complicated pay exceptions, bonus and incentive payments, retroactive payments, error resolution and complex problem solving for payroll, time management and financial reporting.
  • Process various remittances garnishments, ESPP, RRSP, group insurance invoices, WCB, EHT, etc.
  • Prepare and issue Records of Employment using ROE web.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager with yearend balancing and reporting.
  • Research issues and promptly resolve internal and external inquiries.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Adhere to audit controls and payroll governance.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality relative to personal data, compensation data and employee benefits information.

Qualifications

  • PCP Certification required.
  • Experience working with UKG strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience in a multijurisdictional environment, ideally with 500+ employees.
  • Must have experience with full cycle Canadian payroll.
  • Strong understanding of Payroll and HR processes and best practices.
  • Time management skills, ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Organized, efficient and a selfstarter who can catch on quickly and is adaptable to change.
  • Processminded and always looking for ways to create efficiencies.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and General Ledger.
  • US payroll experience is not required but is considered an asset.
