The Opportunity:
IWK Diagnostic Imaging provides diagnostic and interventional medical imaging primary and tertiary-level services to children, women and families.
It includes diagnostic radiology, interventional angiography, cardiac catheterization, nuclear medicine, ultrasound and interventional ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, bone mineral densitometry, and diagnostic and screening breast imaging.
This department relies heavily on high technology capital equipment and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) for management of diagnostic images.
The role of the Team Leader, CT/MRI/Nuclear Medicine/Ultrasound is to organize and directly supervise the daily operations within the department and to effectively communicate and collaborate to ensure the most effective, efficient and highest quality of care with other IWK departments, to ensure DI services are managed with the patient's and family needs as a priority.
The Team Leader, CT/MRI/Nuclear Medicine/Ultrasound acts as a resource and leader for staff in their area of certification, exhibits leadership, advanced technical knowledge and sound professional judgement and initiative.
Hours of Work:
7.5 hour shifts, M-F, , plus after hours call coverage even/wknd/holidays
Your Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized school of imaging technology; courses in pediatric imaging preferred; degree or advanced certification an asset.
- Licensed by the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP)
- Successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the last 12 months or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate required.
- Minimum of 35 years of related clinical experience as a SonographerTechnologist required.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- CARDUP Courses in Pediatric, neurosonography and or fetal echocardiography an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing relevant learning required; leadership courses an asset.
- Familiarity with PASC and His /RIS system an asset.
- Excellent effective decision making skills.
- Utilizes sound problem solving skills and ability to make independent technical decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate in a second language.
