Description

Academic, recreational, life and social skills development after-school program designed to support youth attending high schools in neighbourhood improvement areas in Toronto.

The Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto is recruiting multiple part-time Youth Program Facilitators to join our team. Programs run
Tuesday-Thursday from 3:00-6:00pm.

Total hours:

9-12 hours per week.

The program runs in Toronto high schools.

Site locations may include areas such as:
Scarborough, Etobicoke, and North York.


Youth Facilitator specific duties:

  • Working frontline with youth directly to deploy the monthly mandate, program calendar/activity plans as per program guidelines
  • Ensure all risk mitigation strategies, safety, program guidelines, program targets are used and met in daily deployment of program activities with youth and colleagues
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and modelling for program participants while liaising and reporting to team leads and program admin
  • Assist in creating monthly programming for youth including: recreation and physical activity, academic tutoring, cooking, music, arts and crafts, and social skills development
  • Create a welcoming, caring, environment for youth to encourage participation in daily activities
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development training opportunities
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and school administration
  • Ability to engage, empower, and educate youth
  • Conduct outreach activities in school to promote program awareness
  • Complete administrative tasks such as food budgeting, program inventory, and keep a record of student attendance
  • Maintain safe and clean work environments
  • Attend and contribute to organization fundraising efforts
  • Attending mandatory training sessions as required

Qualifications:


  • Post Secondary education in Education/Child and/or Youth Social Work/Recreation Management, CYW or a combination of relevant academic and professional experience.
  • Experience deploying programming for youth (recreation/tutoring/healthy living/wellness)**:
  • Understanding of the academic and social issues facing youth with Learning Disabilities
  • Experience working with atrisk youth, crisis management and diverse vulnerable populations
  • Selfstarter, demonstrated creativity and problemsolving abilities
  • Ability to work independently within a team setting
  • Experience in outreach, community development and/or marketing of program(s) and services
  • Ability to perform and document routine inspections and cleaning procedures as per agencies COVID guidelines
  • Ability to navigate and deliver online programming as required
  • HIGH FIVE, Principles of Healthy Child Development
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Food Handler Certificate
  • Successful VSS required
**All program workers are involved in part in program planning, facilitation, tutoring and behaviour management.


Terms:
Part-Time Position (fixed-term contract)


Hours:9-12 hours per week
(MUST be available every Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00p.m. to 6p.m.)
