Manitoba's Northern Health Region (NHR) is currently recruiting for a Supervisor, Health Information Services (HIS) based in Thompson, Manitoba.

In this full-time, permanent role, the Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and management of the Health Information Services (HIS - Health Records, Registration and Admitting) team and programs in facilities throughout the region, ensuring efficient collection, processing, protection, reporting, storage and access of patient information.

Through a collaborative process, the Supervisor provides management and implementation of strategic plans, policies, procedures, and standards at the site level and regionally as required.

If the above has piqued your interest, here are some of the qualifications and experience we're looking for:

  • 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Health Information Services, Privacy and Access
  • Certificate or degree in HIS Management preferred (alternate education/experience considered)
  • Member in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
  • Working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analysis of health records
  • Knowledge of provincial Client Registry Best Practices
  • Comprehensive knowledge of privacy legislation including The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), The Mental Health Act, and other related healthcare legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent English language proficiency, both written and verbal
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license, access to a vehicle, and ability to travel within the region
