    Position Overview

    This is an exciting time for Manitoba health care. Manitoba's health system is currently in transition with changes aimed at improving the quality, accessibility and efficiency of health care services throughout Manitoba.

    As part of the Shared Health Workforce team, the Wellbeing Center of Expertise will develop, implement and evaluate a multi-year "made in Manitoba" provincial workplace wellbeing strategy to instill a holistic culture of wellbeing, psychological safety, belonging, equity, and meaningful connection through five inter-dependent pillars: People First, Instill Belonging, Foster Purpose, Inspiring Leaders, and Intentional Organizational Action.

    MAIN FUNCTION
    Reporting to the Manager, Provincial Wellbeing, the Wellbeing Leader will be instrumental in supporting the development and implementation of wellbeing initiatives, prevention strategies, and policies that will promote the holistic wellbeing of the healthcare workforce. The goal of these initiatives will be to build provincial capacity in responding to crisis, promoting recovery, fostering awareness of mental health supports, and enabling wellbeing along a continuum. As part of a provincial team and within the designated service delivery organization, the incumbent will serve as a role model and change agent for the organizational culture and vision of workplace wellbeing by leading day-to-day activities that support the provincial wellbeing strategy, including providing psychological supports, education, and training to the healthcare workforce. A key component of this role will be to support the implementation and delivery of a Critical Incident Stress Response Program across a full continuum of services. The incumbent will work collaboratively with various stakeholders including Service Delivery Organizations, Occupational and Environmental Safety & Health (OESH), Shared Health, Manitoba Health, and other health providers.

    Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the healthcare delivery system and/or in a directly related role in healthcare.
  • Previous clinical experience and training in providing trauma informed, systemic, strength-based approaches, and experience in providing the full continuum of Critical Incident Stress Response in both a group and individual setting.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of mental health interventions, trauma, workplace stress, operational stress injuries, psychological safety in the workplace, and mental health and wellbeing.
  • Experience and knowledge with the delivery of services and programs that foster equity, diversity, inclusion.
  • Experience and demonstrated sensitivity in collaborating with Indigenous Peoples and culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience with providing psychological supports to individuals and groups, both in person and virtually.
  • Familiarity with Manitoba's public health care system and services.
  • Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Public Health, Health Sciences or a related field).
  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
  • Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
  • A valid Manitoba driver's license and use of a personal motor vehicle is required.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Intermediate skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and virtual platforms (i.e. Microsoft Teams) required.
  • Strong clinical skills including consultation, assessment, Critical Incident Stress Response, and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong knowledge of associated evidence-based best practices and advanced training in Critical Incident Stress Response (CISR) including mental health, trauma, and CISR response and support systems.
  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills including development and delivery of training to professional audiences and commitment to the recruitment, growth, and development of a regional peer support network.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage programs within the healthcare system, including the development of supporting documents, processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in change management, with an ability to lead and influence interdisciplinary healthcare professionals at all levels.
  • Strong and compassionate people leadership skills with the ability to facilitate and negotiate using consultative decision-making processes, foster trust, maintain positive working relationships, and encourage diverse perspectives.
  • Strong understanding of the value and importance of cross-team collaboration with the ability to act as a consultative partner with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise high level clinical practice, empathy, and sound judgement in relation to sensitive and confidential matters and information.
  • Ability to work with front line employees with diverse life experiences with a demonstrated understanding of the impacts of marginalization on wellbeing.
  • Ability to conceptualize systemically the multi-faceted and dynamic nature of wellbeing within the broader healthcare ecosystem.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize as well as be adaptable to changing priorities as necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Competence in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge/lived experience in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values is an asset.
  • Will be required to complete cultural safety training, including specific Indigenous cultural awareness training, required by the employer.
  • Fluency in English and bilingualism in French an asset.
  • The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the framework.
  • Physical Requirements

  • May be required to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings.
  • May be required to travel throughout the service area requiring a valid Manitoba driver's license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
  • Some evening/weekend work may be required.
