Purpose of Job:


The Manager, Risk Technology contributes to and supports the overall goals for the Risk Technology Canada roadmap, by assisting with the modernization of our platforms and maximizing product profitability for the Canadian Small Business (and Retail Lending products as required) through the implementation (and testing when required) of the credit acquisition adjudication module.

This person must have excellent interpersonal and technical skills to work closely with senior risk management, the credit bureaus, small business and retail product teams, fraud and system development personnel to maintain an extremely efficient, error free adjudication system.


The incumbent contributes to the implementation of credit risk strategies through participating in the design and development of these strategies based on the requirements of the policy teams to support the Small Business and Retail Lending product lines within Canada.


The incumbent will be expected to be ideally familiar with FICO OMDM software, as well as various software tools (such as Postman, SOAPUI, , java, MongoDB) to complete the assigned work.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage and maintain Scotiabank's small business and personal lending adjudication modules (OMDM) and strategies by:
  • Translating new business rules/policy changes from management into system requirements
  • Liaising with outside vendors/developers to coordinate changes
  • Designing and developing diagnostic test cases to ensure all subsidiary modules from suppliers are working properly, effectively and efficiently and to detect any possible error prior to their implementation to OMDM
  • Coordinating, testing and verifying changes with various groups/users/ delivery channels within the bank including QAT department
  • Providing documentation and updating all changes in a chronology report which would be readily available for regulator and internal auditors to review
  • Assist with prioritizing releases
  • Maintaining an extremely efficient error free adjudication system for the Canada Small Business and Retail Lending businesses
  • Participate in the design, development and implementation of new predictive model initiatives by reviewing business cases and requirements documents; designing, developing and performing statistical hypothesis testing to validate changes to policy to ensure the outcome of the changes align to senior management's expectations; performing extensive regression tests of OMDM to ensure that the new changes will not affect all the other existing algorithms for all channels and products.
  • Provide consultation and support to Product Management and other Bank groups on new initiatives (market expansion, improving customer service, streamlining and enhancing product systems); review/provide input and expertise into new proposals; provide counsel on the technical feasibility of changes and potential channel specific challenges; determine high level systems requirements for changes to policies; review business cases/requirements documents; establish intersystem links to support changes required; work consultatively to resolve issues before implementing new strategies, policy changes or system enhancements.
  • Identify problems/issues and recommend appropriate methods to correct the problem and improve customer service. Contribute to the integrity and reliability of customer credit information that relates to credit adjudication. Identify opportunities to lower risk exposures for acquisition.
  • Monitor risk indicators that affect new account acquisitions and overall credit quality. Identify credit risk trends requiring the implementation of strategies and policies to fit business needs/issues. Work to integrate personal lending and small business risk policies and procedures.
  • Provide counsel and direction to other Bank units (branches, alternate delivery channels, field supervisory offices, product group, exception centres, Banking Operations, Team Voice and Office of the President, etc.)
on concerns regarding credit adjudication and credit bureau issues by:


  • Responding to questions; providing clarification; investigating issues
  • Identifying and investigating any systemic issues and trends; determining solutions and preparing recommendations for review by Senior Manager

Job Requirements:


This position requires an individual to complete highly complex tasks where she/he must have expert knowledge and a creative mind to understand various internal and external systems to manage and maintain the Scotiabank adjudication platform for Small Business and Retail credit products.


The incumbent must have a solid understanding of:

  • Various complex internal and external computer systems
  • Databases, query structure, data structure and data extraction
  • Multiple retail credit products and associated policies and proce
