    Description:

    The main function of a Support Engineer is to provide technical assistance to computer system users. A typical Support Engineer is responsible for answering questions or resolving computer problems for clients in person, via telephone or from a remote location.

    Job Responsibilities:


    • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems, typically of a lower complexity


    • May install software or perform hardware testing remotely


    • Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors


    • Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities


    • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support

    Typical Day in the Role


    • Purpose of the Team: The team supports customers on issues with Azure data factory, Azure Synapse pipeline, data flows and data factory. Final point of escalation and resolution for advanced technical support for highly complex products. Provides support via telephone, written correspondence, and electronic media.


    • Key projects: This role will contribute to supporting the team with being the final point of escalation and resolution for customers.


    • Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: Customer opens a case, and the case gets assigned to a support engineer. Currently each support engineer is receiving 1 to 3 cases per day. They would cover those cases and work with premier customers. They will support 5 to 15 cases per week.

    Work Environment:


    • 40hr/week, standard schedule M-F, there could be a change in rotation down the line (Tuesday to Saturday, or Sunday to Thursday). Someone who is flexible with this is ideal.

    Qualifications:


    • Associate's degree in computer related field or equivalent training required


    • 5-7 years experience required


    • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills


    • Basic ability to work independently and manage one's time


    • Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software
