About the Role:


You will contribute by:


  • Writing and producing compelling news content for Global Regina.
  • Creating show rundowns, lineups, and researching news and current affairs stories for broadcast and online.
  • Writing accurate and creative copy for live and pretaped newscasts, including story leads, bumpers, and promos.
  • Coordinating and producing guest and host segments, including identifying and booking guests for news stories/shows, and conducting preinterviews.
  • Coordinating with the newsroom on breaking news, Amber Alerts, and daily show content.
  • Working with field crews to ensure the best possible content goes to air.
  • Collaborating closely with our production crew to create captivating newscasts.
  • Creatively utilizing production graphics and other visual elements.
  • Producing, writing and posting content for various online platforms.
  • Keeping current with local, national, and breaking news by monitoring all news sources, including wires, feeds, and social media.
  • Developing creative ways to deliver news content.
  • Making quick decisions when it comes to news judgement.
  • Maintaining Global News' high production standards.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Post-secondary education in broadcast journalism or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a broadcast newsroom setting.
  • Strong news sense, solid writing and research skills.
  • Familiarity with broadcast journalism, including news and script writing, newscast lineups, video editing, and content production.
  • Strong digital and social media skills, with the ability to write and produce web copy.
  • Ability to make quick decisions under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Organized, superior attention to detail, and a strong collaborator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and work cooperatively with team members.
