Forklift operator / Material handler


You live in the
West part of Ottawa and want to work at a
few minutes drive from your home? You want to work
from 09:30 - 18:00, Monday to Friday? You want to join a
fast growing company and be contributor of the company's
success? Then we may have the perfect job for you This position reports to Shipping Department Supervisor.

Initially 2-3 weeks would be 7:30-16:00 for training then move to regular shift noted above.

How can you contribute to our success?


This role includes receiving, expediting, storing, moving products,
order picking, filling orders, complete system updates, cycle counts, periodically manually
unloading/loading trucks, general warehouse upkeep.


Major Responsibilities and Duties

Material Handling:
Valid forklift operator certificate. Experience usage of Counter Balance and Reach forklifts. Move product as required between various departments. Loading into or picking products from racks and trailers.


Receiving:

Unload inbound material, verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.


Expediting:

Order picking, stage or load trucks, verify accuracy and condition of shipment, generate shipping documents, report any discrepancies or damage.


Inventory:

Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including fork lift, Reach fork lift, pallet jack, and handcart.

Sort and store items according to established procedures. Use of mobile bar code scanners. Maintain computerized inventory records, periodic physical counts checking against system inventory totals.


General:
Maintain a safe and clean environment, includes sweeping and general garbage detail as needed.

This role is not solely isolated to the Shipping Dept and movement to other departments may be required depending on staffing and workload.

Requires fluent computer skills and tape measure usage.


Working Conditions:
The position requires continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside, work around machinery, work on ladders, work on fork lifts and work on scissor lifts.

    valid forklift licence:
  • Fluent to train our inhouse operations system
  • Comfortable in a
    fastpaced work environment
