About the Role:

Reporting to the Digital Strategist, you will help to create engaging content across some of Canada's leading digital brands. You will be writing lifestyle articles, aiding our affiliate partnerships and assisting distribution initiatives. You will also be a key player in managing editorial projects across brands.

You have a passion for writing, organization, lifestyle content and enjoy creating, building and being part of a dynamic team and industry.

You will be responsible for content on such brands as HGTV Canada, Food Network Canada, SLICE and History lifestyle brands.


You will contribute by:


  • Brainstorm, create, write, edit and upload compelling web content including articles, videos galleries and other features.
  • Keep an eye on the pulse of viral and trending lifestyle content and produce searchoptimized pieces under tight deadlines.
  • Manage a roster of content contributors: sourcing, fielding pitches, editing content and managing invoice intake, budget tracking.
  • Manage homepage updates & newsletters, as required, strategizing around audience engagement, A/B testing & best practices.
  • Assist the team's affiliate relationships with major brands in an effort to drive traffic and revenue.
  • Execute sponsored content for lifestyle brands, as needed.
  • Gather required assets (short form video, recipes, images and other content) from distributors or internal stakeholders.
  • Adhere to distributor licensing agreements for content including all video, recipe content, images and other assets.
  • Manage the quarterly maintenance of seriesrelated content and related website development, including selecting and scheduling content, effectively merchandising content, and analyzing performance.
  • Work with social media team on ideation and execution of crossplatform series.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Publicity to ensure show properties are effectively crossmarketed on linear and digital.
  • Maintain updates to content assignments within editorial calendar.
  • Coordinate with other brands to align content for crosspromotion and audience sharing.
  • Collaborate with Editors, Producers and Strategists to integrate this content into editorial roadmap.
  • Occasional opportunity to contribute content to Corus lifestyle brands and appear oncamera, across different platforms.

Skills and Experience you will bring:

  • A solid understanding of the content that appeals to and gets engagement online, as well as strong writing & Photoshop skills.
  • Understanding of QA processes, UX and Design.
  • Strong understanding of SEO using content publishing systems such as WordPress.
  • Experience working in an Agile team environment would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and the capability to multitask in a fastpaced, active environment.
  • Strong writing, copy editing and content packaging within Lifestyle verticals with an aptitude for lifestyle brands.
  • Ability to cleanly publish multiple pieces of content daily in content management systems.
  • Ability to manage and source freelancers.
  • Understanding of analytics, including Google Analytics and Omniture.
  • Experience editing video to be considered a plus.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail on projects, selfmanages project timelines, volume and workflows.
  • Sincerity, transparency, integrity and respectfulness and quickly adapts to changing media landscape and company priorities.
  • Excellent information synthesis, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding what makes great digital content and a willingness to learn, grow and adapt.
