Are you passionate about keeping mechanical systems running smoothly? We're seeking a skilled individual to join us as our next
Utility Maintenance Person. You will be the key in providing top-notch preventative maintenance on all mechanical systems and equipment.


Reporting to the Supervisor of Preventative Maintenance, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and inspecting HVAC equipment, systems, and infrastructure.

Plus, you'll have the opportunity to assist our Service Mechanics when needed.


What You'll Do:

Inspect Mechanical Equipment: Conduct thorough inspections of all mechanical equipment and systems located in remote areas to prevent damage and minimize downtime.

Perform Preventative Maintenance:Executive daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance tasks on equipment to prolong its life cycle and ensure optimal functionality.

Chemical Testing:Perform regular chemical testing to uphold the integrity of distribution lines and infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Meter Reading and Issue Identification:Record meter readings for utility charges and promptly identify any abnormal usage patterns or potential issues.

Emergency Response:Respond promptly to emergency situations, employing efficient problem-solving skills to resolve issues and minimize disruptions.

Asset Management:Enter and update asset information into FAMIS, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records for efficient maintenance tracking.

Stock Management: Manage stock material orders, including pickup and delivery of supplies, while meticulously recording any anomalies for correction.

Service Schedule Maintenance: Adhere to service schedules, which include tasks such as greasing bearings, bolt tensioning, oiling motors, changing filters, cleaning equipment, changing belts, changing oil, and repairing equipment.

Mechanical Space Maintenance:Maintain cleanliness and organization of mechanical spaces, including mechanical rooms and tunnels, and ensure adequate restocking of supplies.

Decision Making:Recommend and make decisions regarding filter life in large building systems and individual fan coils, as well as develop and implement safe work strategies in both private and public areas.

Assist Mechanical Trades: Provide assistance to mechanical trades during water and steam shutdowns, contributing to efficient and safe operations.

Position Requirements


What You Will Bring to the Position:

  • Successful completion of Grade 1
  • Must possess a Building Systems Technician or comparable program certification (ie. 4th Class Power Engineer).
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience regarding the maintenance, operation and repair of mechanical systems in large commercial buildings may be considered with 5 years of experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with Building Systems Technician certificate
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role:

  • Knowledge and skill in the use and operation of various tools and equipment related to plumbing, steam fitting, pipefitting, refrigeration, power engineering repairs and construction, and performing routine maintenance would be an asset.
  • Ability to understand and execute written and verbal instructions and drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use power and hand tools and special equipment. Ability to properly use safety equipment, machine guards, and safety devices. All personal protective equipment must be used as appropriate.
