The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) to join our Construction Services team in Spruce Grove, AB.
Please Note:
This position works a modified schedule of 9 days on / 5 days off.
What you'll do
Operate Equipment near and around above and below ground facilities
Strictly adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and internal operating procedures
Perform routine daily pre-use inspections to ensure safe operability of all equipment
Perform minor maintenance activities such as equipment lubrication to ensure equipment is maintained and is clean
Assist team with pre-job planning of all ground disturbances to ensure safety and compliance of excavations
Assume the role of the excavation coordinator as it pertains to TC Energy operating procedures
Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt corrective action and reporting
Report equipment or vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the equipment upon immediate observation
Responsible for shipping, receiving, loading and unloading of construction materials and equipment for projects
Support the team in other general pipeline maintenance activities as required
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency
2 years' operating equipment (excavator, dozer, boom truck, pipe layers, loaders, forklift etc.)
Exposure to reading and interpreting pipeline drawings, one call clearances and project specific drawings
Preferred Qualifications
Valid Class 1 Driver's License
Pipeline construction industry experience, including hands on "hotline" excavation experience
Hoisting certification
Working knowledge of high volume and high-pressure pumps used in pipeline hydrostatic testing activities and high volume / high-pressure air compressors
Strong planning and organization skills
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
Travel often (95%) to support construction activities in other company locations which will require overnight stays away from home and may be for long duration
Work a modified work schedule (9 days on/5 days off)
