Learning Pod Instructor:

Passionate about puns? Excited by literature? Eager to help students succeed in English and also learn about their role in the community?


Gain valuable teaching experience Oxford Learning in Guelph is seeking a professional individual to work with students in grades JK through Gr.

8 in our daytime Learning Pod program.

This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language and social studies and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.


Responsibilities
You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching 6-8 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching inperson
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in postlesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
  • Keep control of the classroom with proper classroom management strategies
  • Provide the children with a "prepared environment" which includes making materials to support individual needs within the classroom
  • Plan individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional, and academic areas
  • Instruct children in each area: Language, Mathematics, and Science
  • Allow children to be as independent as possible
  • Identify, select, and modify work in the room to meet the needs of children with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
  • Record progress of each child through tracking observations and individual planning
  • Conduct parent/teacher interviews and communicate regularly with families
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, families, and coworkers
  • Clean and sanitize the environment to maintain the classroom and materials
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through ongoing education and attends professional development courses and workshops

  • Monday to Thursday 8:30AM 5:00PM
  • This schedule is nonnegotiable

Necessary Education:


  • University Degree

Salary:
$19 / hour to start
