Plains is looking for a motivated Electrical / Instrumentation Technician to support our pipeline system in the Olds and central Alberta area (Olds Rangeland pipeline).

Reporting to the Area Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment at our stations, terminals and gathering systems are managed to the highest degree of reliability for the operation.

Some travel will be required (up to 25%).


Permanent residency within 100 km of the Olds facility is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities:


  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Maintain the site preventative maintenance program, including managing computerized equipment maintenance records and data.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies/procedures as they pertain to this position.

Qualifications:


  • Certified Interprovincial Electrical Journeyperson with 35 years' experience in the oil and gas industry; dual ticketed considered an asset
  • Previous experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and instrumentation equipment within the oil and gas industry is preferred
  • Additional technical instrumentation or certification is considered an asset
  • Strong electrical/instrumentation aptitude with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot related problems
  • Strong commitment to onthejob safety to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and contractors
  • Allen-Bradley PLC programming experience considered an asset
  • Intermediate level MS Word/Excel required
  • Selfmotivated and energetic with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals in a busy field environment
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including preemployment D&A testing
