This is an Intern position for students/staff who have graduated from a program at TRU within the last 12 months and is paid at 80% of the pay rate.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responds to inperson, in writing or phone inquiries about TRU programs and services, admissions and registration.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Senate approved policies and related procedures, admissions and registration procedures, TRU Calendar content, transfer credit policies, and applies them in day to day operations.
  • Modifies and maintains information packages/brochures for admissions and registration.
  • Enters data into an enterprise relational database.
  • Assists in the generating of admission decision letters.
  • Compiles and distributes reports both internally and externally; assembles and maintains resource material including procedure manuals, handbooks.
  • Maintains confidentiality of documents and student records.
  • Assists in the training of other staff.
  • Provides administrative support such as, but not limited to, producing notices, staff meeting and training notes.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree or twoyear postsecondary diploma.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Four (4) years related experience in a postsecondary institution or related environment, including 1 year experience with enterprise relational database and conducting assessments within defined guidelines

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

  • Demonstrated ability to perform electronic word processing
  • Typing speed of 45 wpm
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately enter data into an enterprise relational database
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to use policy and departmental procedures to conduct daily duties and to identify and solve daytoday issues
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as printers, scanners, fax machine, and photocopier
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to develop and provide reports as requested
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Sitting at desk and computer for long periods of time as well as counter work
  • General office conditions
  • Occasional lifting and moving boxes and bins up to 10 kg.
