About the Branch


The Strategic Management and Corporate Services Branch is accountable for the Ministry's fiscal corporate strategic planning, procurement planning and advice, risk management strategies, corporate accounting, internal and external financial reporting, budget and expenditure management, revenue management processes, financial systems support & sustainment, controllership and corporate performance measurement/reporting, agency management, and leadership for government finance and administration submissions to Treasury Board.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Provide clients with advice regarding procurement, corporate and Ministry policies.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to clients and managers.
  • Assist in the ministry relocation files and developing business practices and processes.
  • Liaise and consult with legal counsel on procurement issues management as required.
  • Develop and deliver training to communicate ministry approval processes, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Lead/participate on ministrywide working groups/initiatives/projects.

How do I qualify?:


Technical Expertise:


  • You have knowledge of policy development methods, techniques and protocols in order to make recommendations to enhance business practices.
  • You have the ability to understand the procurement directive in order to provide recommendations and advice to program managers.

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:


  • You can gather, analyse and assess data to provide recommendations and options.
  • You can determine client's needs and priorities to resolve service management issues.
  • You have experience conducting costbenefit analyses to determine the impact of changes made to policies, directive and procedures.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:


  • You can develop and prepare a variety of correspondence for senior management.
  • You can build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • You can influence and motivate others to ensure buyin and adoption of policies and directives.
  • You can work with technical experts and management to develop and enhance deliverables.
  • You can develop and deliver training materials to a variety of audiences using word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

Project Management Skills:


  • You have proven project management skills to plan, coordinate and implement projects and ensure deliverables are met.
