We are hiring a Student Experience Librarian whose portfolio includes assessment and user experience, with a focus on collecting, analyzing, and sharing data to improve the student experience. An internal candidate has been identified for this position.
Within the assessment portfolio, the Student Experience Librarian leads the collection, maintenance, analysis, and communication of library data. Because assessment touches every area of the library, this role requires exceptional collaboration and communication skills, the ability to work well with library technicians and supervisors, and the ability to support other librarians in working with assessment data in their own areas of responsibility.
The user experience portfolio also spans all aspects of library operations. The Student Experience Librarian brings a student-focused and accessibility-informed lens to our use of physical and online spaces and consults with the team on improving user experience for students in other areas, including student services, teaching, and collections.
The Student Experience Librarian is also the liaison for the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, which includes collection development and management, research help, faculty consultation, and teaching information literacy workshops. In our teaching at CapU, we value active learning, outcomes-based class design, and workshops tailored to students' needs. The role will also include staffing the Research Help Desk in-person and online via chat, along with AskAway.
    Our Working Environment

The Student Experience Librarian will join a team of eight faculty librarians who work within a collegial management model. Within this model, librarians participate in collective decision-making related to work within the department, attend department meetings, and participate in peer evaluation, search-hire committees, and other working groups in the Library and across campus. Librarians also serve as faculty coordinators for the department on a rotating, elected basis. Librarians collaborate with the University Librarian, Library staff, and partners across campus. The Technical Services Supervisor, Library Services Supervisor, and library technicians are key collaborators for this role.
