- Generate maps and related graphs and charts
- Maintain and manage digital database
- Train staff
- Maintain equipment and instruments
- Process data to conduct basic analyses of trends
- Write specifications and technical reports
- Apply quality control procedure
- Participate in field checks and verification
- Inspect final compositions
- Examine and interpret aerial photographs
- Develop specialized computer software, Internet based GIS, database and business applications
- Observe, chart and report on ice conditions in navigable waters
- Perform data entry
- Verify accuracy and completeness of data
