JOB PURPOSE


This role develops and enhances the Community Impact goals of the United Way Period Promise campaign by working closely with essential partners, supporting new research opportunities and making effective use of existing data, and enhancing efforts to mobilize and advocate around the issue of limited access to menstrual products in our community.

The role is essential to building on existing successes so that United Way's Period Promise campaign can continue to lead as a community-focused effort while making it possible to expand the profile and presence of the campaign across the various regions of United Way BC (UWBC).


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.


Key Responsibilities:
Research Program Coordination


  • Provides support in building research priorities to help achieve advocacy goals
  • Acts as the lead coordinator, organizer, and facilitator of emerging research opportunities and the publication and presentation of findings
  • Provides analysis of data sets, both qualitative and quantitative, to support meaningful and accurate findings that can inform community impact work
  • Takes existing data sets collected by UWBC and identifies ways to support more efficient and effective analysis of the information
  • Works closely with staff from other departments to strengthen impact reporting and impact knowledge of the campaign

Key Responsibilities:

Sector Networking and Support**- Develops and strengthens connections with local, regional, and national partners whose work around access to menstrual products aligns well with that of UWBC

  • Supports the capacity development of grassroots activists, nonprofits, charities, and the collectives they build by assessing needs and identifying spaces for effective, meaningful collaboration
  • Coordinates and organizes symposiums, webinars, and other menstrual equity focused events
  • Represents UWBC and our work on menstrual equity with a variety of external stakeholders
  • Works closely with staff in other regions of UWBC, and United Ways around Canada

Key Responsibilities:

Community Mobilization**- Regularly researches and implements effective community-focused campaign methods and strategies, with a particular focus on community organizing, advocacy, research, public policy, and community impact

  • Tracks opportunities to advance policies on access to menstrual products, identifies key stakeholders, and supports prioritizing strategies for effective network mobilization
  • Supports the organization and execution of a collection and distribution program for menstrual products from United Way partners and volunteers to community organizations
  • Participates in community engagement activities and special events where United Way's Period Promise work is featured or present

General

  • May participate in community engagement or fundraising activities
  • Performs other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education:


  • Twoyear postSecondary Diploma or Certificate in a discipline involving research and analysis
  • Training in training delivery, project or event management is an asset

Experience:


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience being active in the menstrual equity or period poverty movement or relevant lived experience
  • Experience coordinating projects across an organization and running or building publicfacing campaigns
  • Mixture of quantitative and qualitative research skills in the social service or social science sector

Skills:


  • Ability to represent the department and organization in a professional, competent manner that helps build and maintain relationships
  • Supportive volunteer management skills across a wide variety of volunteer opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills; communicating clearly, both in writing and verbally. Able to deal with all levels of the organization and remote teams
  • Proficient in standard business software, including Office 365, SharePoint and Teams. Familiarity with PowerBI is an asset
  • Ability to develop, deliver, facilitate and train skills focused on cooperation and collaboration
  • Superior networking skills, focused on curiosity and using an assetbased approach
  • High aptitude and understanding of the function and use of database systems and a customer relationship management tool
  • Strong data analysis and research skills for both qualitative and quantitative data analysis

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Occasional hours outside of business hours to attend meetings, conventions, training, and events, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel to other regions and communities within BC, including occasional overnight stays
  • Requires a driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Comfortable asking for help lifting items
