Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, performs professional social work of advanced complexity. Assists in resolving complex psychosocial problems. Carries out a variety of casework and counselling methods; consults extensively with hospital staff and community agencies regarding the psychosocial aspects of the patient's situation and participates in the training of Social Work students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Masters of Social Work degree () from an accredited school of Social Work required. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. Related social work experience, preferably in a medical setting, and demonstrated clinical competence.

Additional information for applicants Currently this position is located on the Mother-Babe unit, Labour Delivery, Pregnancy Support and Planning team , Antenatal Assessment unit and antepartum and loss less than 20 weeks. Previous clinical experience working in these areas in a health care setting will be an asset. Social workers practice team base care working with clients and their families on complex matters to support successful discharge linkages to community resources and support high risk pregnancies with community partners in the community. Collaboration with the Ministry of Children and Families on child protection issues is required. All acute care social workers are Designated Responders under the Adult Guardianship Act and must investigate, assess and intervene in all reports of Adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect. Social workers are required to be registered with the B.C College of Social Workers to practice in Requisition CA Health Science Professionals Affiliation/Union HSA
