The open laboratory technician position involves working in the GC (Gas Chromatography) and Resid Team in the Global Lab Service Unit. This team is responsible for Pilot Plant Operations and Refinery Tech Support. The successful applicant will work with the lead chemist on a variety of routine and research projects, which support the analytical needs of all COMPANY’S operating companies. The position is slated for 6 months and will continuously extend.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS The open position requires working onsite at COMPANY in the GC Laboratory.• The successful candidate will prepare samples (dilutions, standards, solvent extractions) and perform standard and non-standard analytical measurements using the following techniques:o Gas Chromatography (conventional GCMS and GCFID ), and wet chemistry.• Competency in maintaining and repairing lab apparatus is highly desirable for this position.• Excellent documentation skills and a competency with Microsoft Excel is highly desired.• Some of the technician’s time will be spent in helping the lead scientist responsible for the GC lab with more advanced analytical methods and performing experiments associated with strategic research.• Another job function is to oversee all safety related aspects of the Environmental lab including maintaining chemical inventory, checking waste containers to comply the safe practices and requirement.• Applicants are required to have good planning, organizing and flexibility skills.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required in Chemistry or related area with 1-3 years lab experiences.• Gas Chromatography (conventional GCMS and GCFID) and wet chemistry experience required.• Recent academic lab and instrumentation experience would be considered• Bio-Chemistry lab experience would be considered• Excellent documentation skills and a competency with Microsoft Excel is highly desired.• This is a safety sensitive Position – PPE will be provided by COMPANY.• Local Bay Area candidates only
