Your new company

Our client is a Canadian design-led engineering company in Ontario. Due to rapid growth globally, we are current looking for an UX Expert to join the team and lead the user experience journey.

Your new role
Reporting to the VP, Customer Experience, you as the UX Expert plays a key role in the design and production of custom-built software applications, working alongside business analysts, technical architects, developers and visual designers to identify requirements, study users and craft experiences that translate business and user needs into highly engaging SW products. This is a client-facing position with the opportunity to shape and communicate user experience designs, and is responsible for translating the overall conceptual design into implementation-ready assets.

Conduct stakeholder and end user interviews

Collect and document business and design requirements

Plan, conduct, and/or participate in user research

Freely idea and conceptualise via sketches, concept models, etc.

Identify and communicate design trade-offs and alternatives, as needed

Present findings, design concepts, and rationale internally and to clients

Plan and facilitate client workshops and team meetings

Work within internal processes for design, development, and review

Contribute to defining and improving quality standards and processes

Designing and building digital interfaces that promote usability and enhance a user's experience of SW products

Translating complex tasks and large data sets into intuitive, accessible, and easy to use interfaces

Delivering project artifacts such as prototypes, process flows, journey mapping, wire-frames etc

Delivering reusable, cross device and responsive prototypes

Collaborating with data and technology teams to define, design, and deliver efficient digital solutions that have a direct impact on your colleague's daily job

Collaborating with product managers to inform and plan the products' vision

Collaborating on the development and maintenance of user experience design standards and guidelines for internal Article digital products

Advocating for best practices in user experience design and interaction design

What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful candidate for this position, you need to have minimum 10+ years of IT industry UX experience designing for software applications, products, and services. Please note we do not want UI Designers -it's more user experience than UI design
Other requirements include:

Bachelor or Master Degree in Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction, Service Design, with emphasis on UX or equivalent education

Experience with multiple user research methods (breakthroughs, user testing, interviews, surveys, etc)

Strong problem solving skills with the ability to quickly understand complex systems and iterate ideas to improve them

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Service or professional consulting background preferred

A strong portfolio
