This position is responsible for all aspects of our supplies inventory and supplier quality. Through diligent focus and supervision of the purchasing team, this position ensures that we have the required materials available as our operations team produces our products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise purchasing roles, resolving problems, conducting training, and setting schedules
  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations for packaging changes and recommend and implement based on cost analysis
  • Source materials and support the negotiation of contracts with external suppliers, acting as the key point of contact for all supplies, including quality issues, pricing, etc.
  • Oversee day-to-day procurement and sourcing of supply
  • Cost analysis/budgeting for packaging inventory requirements
  • Create a distribution plan and strategy to optimize the management of inventory and supplies
  • Develop and implement quarterly review process with major suppliers to communicate and resolve any outstanding issues
  • Work with Packaging Inventory team and Finance team look for opportunities to improve invoice processing and receiving
  • Prepare recommendations and maintain financial records to ensure projects stay within budget
  • Monitor and report performance against plans and ensure proper execution
  • Responsible for finding cost savings and monitoring existing processes (post audits) to ensure they continue to perform at optimal levels of efficiency
  • Provide on the floor support and supervision of project implementations
  • Ensure turnaround or processing time for purchasing is optimized
  • Responsible for staying on top of all contract renewals and RFP's
  • Lead point of contact for expansion related purchasing (C3)
  • Act as backup to the Buyer for vacation coverage
  • Responsibilities

  • Previous purchasing/procurement experience is required
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of computer system (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and lead a team
  • Proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
