Scope

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) the incumbent conducts needs assessments, researches solutions, designs, implements and evaluates programs, services and support that provide professional learning opportunities and on-the-job support. He/she provides advice on issues related to teaching & learning services and develops instructional tools and methods.

Primary responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct faculty workshops, graduate seminars, and one-to-one consultations that promote active and collaborative learning in the digital and physical classroom and the appropriate use of educational technologies.
  • Organize and coordinate teaching and learning projects designed to build the capacity of the University community on matters such as student engagement, retention, and outcomes-based assessment.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators on projects to research, design, implement, assess and disseminate initiatives to improve student-learning outcomes, and lead the formal project development and management around these projects.
  • Assist with the development of CTL support, services, publications, and online resources.
  • Serve on University committees, as appropriate.
  • Keep educational technology skills abreast of developments in the face of rapidly evolving needs of the University, its faculty and students.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director.
  • Requirements

  • Master's degree in education or a related field with a concentration in instructional design, higher education, curriculum or in-person and online teaching and learning with two to four years of relevant experience.
  • Four years’ experience in the design and development of educational programs, instructional design and instructional materials at the post-secondary level.
  • A strong knowledge of current practices in educational technology, faculty development and student learning theory and online learning (technologies and practices).
  • Recognized experience in teaching, research and analysis at the university level.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty and administrators on strategic planning, assessing needs, and pursuing the Centre for Teaching and Learning's mission across the University.
  • Extensive experience in the acquisition of expertise with various teaching and learning technologies, including, Moodle, Office 365 and Teams, Zoom, and other technologies that mediate online learning and remote instruction and assessment.
  • Experience planning, implementing and evaluating workshops, programs and faculty support services.
  • Excellent consultation, organization, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English, strong writing and editing capabilities; knowledge of spoken and written French desirable.
  • Ability to set priorities, to work both independently and as part of a team, and excellent project management skills.
