Job Type: Regular 1.00 FTE

Pay Band: $34.48 to $41.54 per hour

Position Description

Language can be the biggest barrier to accessing health care services. The Ottawa Language Access (OLA) program is a social enterprise that offers interpretation services to health care organizations and health service providers who are seeking to provide linguistic support to their clients. OLA was created to bridge the gap between clients and providers and increase access to professional interpretation services tailored to the needs of the community.

The role of OLA’s Program Administrator’s is to manage the provision and coordination of interpreter services for selected programs and services in the Ottawa region. The successful Program Administrator is responsible for overseeing effective delivery and integration of services and will work with partners to ensure the delivery of high quality interpretation services; training for OLA-supported program and service providers; and community engagement to ensure uptake of services.

Position Requirements


  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (health promotion, health administration, social work, communication o or related discipline)
  • Two or more years of experience within the field of regulatory compliance or interpreter services

  • Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience coordinating projects or programs involved in supporting service delivery
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in financial and budgetary oversight including; monitoring expenditures and budgets; preparing monthly reports and analyses;
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with internal and external programs/organizations 
  • Experience developing and delivering training workshops/seminars to staff and or health service providers with variable learning styles
  • Cultural competence training and knowledge of working with diverse client populations, staff, and interpreter personnel 
  • Customer service, interpersonal, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills
  • High level of computer literacy (Ms Office) and ability to use applications supporting website hosting(WordPress), online booking/ordering systems, databases, and data management systems
  • Experience conducting community outreach and engagement activities 
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good awareness and knowledge of local community resources and services
  • Good understanding and knowledge of culturally sensitive care and interventions
  • Ability to collect, understand, synthesize and action complex information quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment
  • Commitment to the principles of health equity and inclusion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Language Capability:

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Fluency in French and/or other languages an asset
