    The Senior Project Controls Analyst (PCA) is a key member of the Michels Canada project team. The Senior PCA will implement and continually refine all project controls processes and reporting including cost tracking and forecasting, progress reporting & scheduling and change management to ensure it meets the needs of the business with the objective of stewarding consistency and identifying and mitigating risks.

    Your Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Review and understand the complete construction scope of work (Construction Work Packages).
  • Review and understand the Contract(s) Documents, which include General Conditions, Specifications, Addendums, Contract Provisions and Compensation requirements for all aspects of the project.
  • Review and analyze estimates / budgets to establish cost and schedule performance baselines
  • Establish indirect & direct costs for cost monitoring and change management; develop project spend profiles for cost tracking purposes.
  • Collect and compile internal and external cost, schedule and progress information through standard templates & procedures
  • accountable to ensure proper coding of project costs; monitor and analyze project costs against commitments and planned values
  • Perform earned value analysis and forecasting to report cost, hour and key quantity variances.
  • Collect and compile Internal and external resource information through templates
  • Monitor and analyze resource requirements against planned values and Forecast At Complete (FAC) values to report resource Variance At Completion (VAC).
  • Assist the Project Management Team in Scope Management by providing insight into scope definition and contractual responsibilities.
  • Collect, compile and maintain changes through standard templates & procedures in support of the Change Management Procedure.
  • Prepare Weekly Project Controls Status Report identifying issues, concerns, summary of events, contract issues, etc.
  • Provide guidance to the Project Management Team in developing the Total Installed Cost (TIC) Forecast To Complete (FTC) values based on the collection of integrated (scope, cost, schedule & progress) internal and external information and reviews
  • Review of subcontract Invoices, ensuring that the coding, amounts, and reported quantities are in agreement with the information provided by the subcontractor to date, and in agreement with the terms and conditions.
  • Identify and report of Cost and Schedule impacts and risk and support recovery planning / mitigation where necessary.
  • Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Post secondary degree in related study (Business, Finance, Construction or Engineering)
  • Minimum of 10 years related project controls experience is required
  • Possess strong computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, and Primavera P6.
  • Construction contractor experience in heavy civil infrastructure or other heavy industry preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record.
