This position is responsible for programming automation and controls systems involving PLCs. The PLC Programmer provides technical direction and expertise for the maintenance, upkeep, and troubleshooting of all electrical/instrumentation equipment. Job Duties:
  • PLC/HMI/SCADA programming in office and onsite
  • Testing, start-up and commissioning onsite
  • Provides telephone support as necessary
  • Provides remote access support to sites that have been commissioned
  • Ensures all documents are completed thoroughly and accurately
  • Computers, networking equipment setup and configuration
  • Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Engineering Technologist or Technician, Computer/Electrical/Instrumentation Tech
  • Working safe in a fast pace environment
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Dealing with incomplete and ambiguous information
  • Programming experience with any of the following: GE Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Modicon, Wonderware
  • 3 or more years of experience in a similar or related role required
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment processes considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
  • Class 5 drivers licence and an acceptable driver abstract required
  • Team-player and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Requires travel up to 30%
  • The successful candidate must be able to produce a negative result on a drug and alcohol screening test.
