Software Developer – XPression

Dept: R&D

Reports to: VP – XPression and ARVS

Job Summary:

The XPression team is in need of junior software engineers. We make the fastest growing real-time motion graphics system that powers news, sports, shows and other productions.

We are looking for an experienced software engineer that has previously worked on delivering Windows applications, data integrations, and 3rd party device control. You will be responsible for a full spectrum of development activities from minor UI changes to designing new 3rd party communication protocols.

Description:

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and goal-oriented individual that combines strong technical knowledge and the communication skills to share that knowledge with the team. You are a self-starter requiring minimal supervision, driven to deliver quality solutions in a dynamic environment.

You will have the backing of our small and energetic XPression development team based at the Ottawa Research and Development facility providing solutions for live motion graphics. You will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle and assist the product verification team with configurations and testing. You will act as subject matter expert for XPression workflow and assist the customer support team with customer quality issues. You will assist our customers in writing custom applications using the XPression API. You will communicate and work with outside vendor for data integrations.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge/Education/Training:

  • Education in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or Broadcast Technology is required
  • 2+ Years of software development
  • 2+ Years of experience working with end users
  • 2+ Years of experience working with Character Generators, Video Editing, or 3D design software
  • Demonstrated ability in handling customer inquiries
  • Experience with Delphi, C#, VB, .Net, and SQL development
  • Knowledge of version control software
  • Knowledge of DirectX, JSON is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of HTML5.0, C/C++ development would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP networking would be consider an asset
  • Knowledge of WindowsOSs, computing hardware would be consider an asset
  • Knowledge of broadcasting standards, and television production would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of automation test tools would be considered an asset
