Join the momentum. We are seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our growing Finance team. MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Providing strategic financial leadership throughout the firm, our Finance team supports services to achieve MNP’s business objectives. We deliver transaction processing, reporting and analytics to support all aspects of the firm and manage all financial activities with expertise and precision.

YOUR ROLE @ MNP

Performance Expectations

  • As the main point of contact for French speaking offices and team members, ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time each semi-monthly pay period
  • Register new hires for online pay statements with Work Force Now (WFN) Employee Self Service
  • Assist with transition from WFN to UKG human capital management software (formerly Ultimate)
  • Distribute payroll registers to Regional Managing Partners
  • Ensure that all distributions lists are updated and current
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Manager on to prepare various reports and execute administrative tasks including the maintenance of the payroll process and procedure manual
  • Assist with completion and distribution of Records of Employment (ROE) to employees using ROE Web
  • Track and enter carry-forward items
  • Maintain the filing system for the payroll department
  • Adhere to internal processes and procedures as outlined in the process manual
  • Saving payroll backup from HRIS/Payroll mailbox for data entry
  • Respond to payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner and escalate to Payroll Manager when situations dictate
  • Assist with the distribution of tax forms during year end
  • Prepare and distribute the annual payroll calendar and payroll cut off dates
  • Prepare cheque requisitions and cheque deposits
  • Maintain and update the WFN home page
  • Credentials

  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English is required
  • Completion of or in the process of completing Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with payroll processes
  • Knowledge of UKG Human Capital Management software (formerly Ultimate) is an asset
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal, mathematical, analytical, organization and time management skills
