Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Management

  • Drive long-range human resource strategies, practices and policies in alignment with business objectives and in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Partnering with the business leaders to achieve business outcomes and KPIs as the foundational focus of the People function
  • Build out HR data insights and analytics that inform decisions regarding headcount and structure, organizational performance, attrition, retention, productivity and employee engagement
  • Chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee as a management representative
  • Oversee policies and procedures through review and communication to employees
  • Lead Accessibilities for Ontarians with Disabilities program
  • Organizational Planning

  • Develop scalable systems to advise business leaders on organizational design, competency models, leadership development, performance measurement, succession planning, skill-gaps, change management to build effective and high-performing employees
  • Reviews all personnel issues and provides guidance to managers in the development of performance improvement plans and disciplinary action
  • Culture & Engagement

  • Define and lead culture initiative’s and educate, measure, and drive adoption via performance management and incentive programs
  • Create and implement the organizational systems that allow the client to reach its full potential
  • Foster and develop a positive, respectful and inclusive work environment
  • Learning & Development

  • Lead the creation of learning and development programs that standardize roles and responsibilities throughout the organization and provide employees with a clear path to advance their careers
  • Develop comprehensive training programs to support the ongoing development of leaders and managers as well as legislative requirements related to Health and Safety and Human Rights
  • Collaborate with employees and managers to create individual employee development plans, schedules training and tracks progress
  • Review effectiveness of internal training to facilitate continuous improvement and innovation and explore opportunities for delivery using a variety of media
  • Implement internal trainer development programs and provide education and support to internal trainers
  • Identify and assess external training services and associated costs and engage third party providers as required
  • Develop and present an annual external training budget for approval
  • Talent Acquisition

  • Develop strategies to attract the best talent to elevate the talent bar
  • Lead the development of systems for the end-to-end recruiting process optimizing team structure, candidate evaluation, candidate experience, and new hire success rates
  • Lead the recruiting process by reviewing and confirming Job Description content, identifying potential sources for qualified candidates, preparing interview guides, participating in interviews, counselling hiring managers in candidate selection, preparing offers and agreements for execution and completing all activities related to onboarding new employees
  • Manage the processes related to our use of Predictive Success for recruiting, hiring and employee development
  • Ensure that Position Profiles are established for all positions
  • Provide analysis of candidate profiles and assists in the assessment of candidate suitability

  • Develop and lead a competitive, performance-driven compensation infrastructure
  • Management of compensation systems
  • Conduct market analysis on pay structures and benefits programs
  • Oversee payroll administration and manage the utilization of Ceridian Dayforce to its full potential
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field, HR designation
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in human resources
  • Ability to move quickly in both strategic design and practical execution to move at the speed of the business, leading the business, not trailing it
  • Extensive experience building innovative, forward-thinking, business focused HR and talent strategies that contribute to a strong high performing culture
  • Highly data and KPI-driven with a strategic business mindset that is biased toward action, alignment and productive collaboration
  • Well-rounded HR Business Partner experience with the ability to build trust in relationships, educate, influence and mentor senior leaders
  • Hands-on leader with the ability to develop and motivate a talented business focused team
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, able to advocate and get the necessary buy-in for programs, and team support
  • Proven success managing and engaging a team in a fast paced, start-up environment
