About the role

The Production Geologist in Training role offers an exceptional opportunity to map and interpret geological information, ground conditions and other pertinent geological anomalies.

Key result areas in this role include:

  • Mark up and track daily production blasts to ensure maximum ore production
  • Collect chip samples, and mark test holes at productions headings for geological information and grade control.
  • Plan and provide guidance for diamond drill programs, logging of drill core and geotechnical logging.
  • Evaluate drill set-ups in advance and develop the diamond drill programs and level rehabilitation as required.
  • Maintain databases and analyze data for production and reconciliation purposes.

    About our Operation

    Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes the Red Lake and Campbell underground mining and processing complexes, and Cochenour, a potential new source of ore. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.

    About you

    As a Production Geologist in Training, you will have a degree in Geology or a Geological Technician College Diploma. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, mining software (Datamine, Surpac, Gems, Minesight, Vulcan), and AutoCAD
  • Above-average core logging skills
  • Reasonable geological modeling skills and the ability to design drill programs
  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Available on an on-call basis when surface drill programs are active
  • Enthusiastic, highly-motivated, action-oriented self starter
